Founded in 1919

Archival holdings: The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University has become an international center of documentation and research on problems of political, social and economic change since the beginning of the XX century. Polish collections of the Hoover Institution belong to the largest Polish ethnic archives in the USA. These archives are the fundamental material for studies on Polish modern political history. Holdings contain a wealth of information on international and internal affairs in Poland before and after World War II. The Polish collection is the largest and the most important research collection on twentieth-century Poland outside of Poland itself. It is comprised of c.a. 300 archival collections.
