The States Archive in Gdansk was established in 1901. 

Archival holdings: historical records of the cities of Gdansk and Elblag, East Pomerania towns, Free City of Danzig, Hanseatic League and public authorities, offices and institutions from XII to XX century. Records of occupation authorities from World War II and state administration and
political parties PPS; PPR; PZPR from post-World War II period. Large collection of maps, vital records.
