Archival holdings: Records include old prints, manuscripts, art and music collections and other materials
related to the history of Pomerania and Poland. In the old prints and rare book collection there are
religious writings of Protestant theologians, the first edition of the chronicle of Maciej from
Miechow as well as astronomical works of Nicolaus Copernicus. The Manuscripts Collection
consists of over 4,600 items - correspondence, letters and charters of towns, cities from the
mediaeval Northern and Central Europe. Among the most valuable are 16th and 17th century
parliament notes from the Polish Kingdom, papal and monastery documents, and the 14th and
15th century statutes of the Order of the Teutonic Knights. There are also records regarding
Polish emigration abroad, the collection of musical scores and old music prints and the
cartographic collection of 10,000 old maps from XV to XX century.
