The State Archives were established in 1946. 
Archival holdings: historical records of public authorities, private and church institutions very valuable for researchers of political, cultural and economic history of the region from the period 1175 to the present. 1918). Records of individuals and their estates, vital records, very large collection of maps and plans ca 87000 items.
