Brain Researcher:
The Dramatic Biography of Noted Neuroscientist
Dr. Henryk Wisniewski
This book presents the dramatic biography of a Polish-American scientist who during the era of the Iron Curtain escaped to the West to conduct research. He hated Nazism and the Communist system in his country, for their denial of freedom and the prospect of a decent life. His early school-age memories included his struggle to survive in a Catholic convent after his father was arrested by the Gestapo and incarcerated as a political dissident against the Third Reich. Between 1945 and 1967, during the Communist regime, Prof. Wisniewski had difficulty pursuing and advancing his scientific career. He worked in prominent research institutions and achieved national and international recognition as a researcher. He published more than 700 scientific manuscripts.
This volume also includes a review of his research written by his son, Thomas Wisniewski, M.D., |
