The Unveiling of the Commemorative Jan Lechon Plaque On Saturday, June 10, 2006 a bronze plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Jan Lechon, one of Poland's greatest poets and a distinguished member of PIASA, was unveiled by Dr. Thaddeus V. Gromada, Executive Director of the Polish Institute of Arts & Sciences of America and blessed by a Pauline Father inside the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The unveiling was made in the presence of: Rev. Krzysztof Wieliczko, Provincial General of the National Shrine, Hon. Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York City, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Hon. Mariusz Brymora, Cultural Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C., Julita Karkowska, Editor-in-Chief of The Polish Daily News (Nowy Dziennik), Monika Fabijanska, Director of the Polish Cultural Institute in New York City, Paul Bosse, First Vice President of the American Council for Polish Culture (ACPC) and many others. The commemorative bronze plaque was created by the artist, Andrzej Pitynski, a PIASA member, and funded by PIASA. The unveiling ceremony was organized by Beata Dorosz of the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Instytut Badan Literackich) in Warsaw and Maciej Patkowski, PIASA member |
